Every holiday I like to make something with my girls’ hand/foot prints to commemorate this time in their lives, but sometimes it’s hard to do it alone. I love to be able to recruit another adult for crafting with the kids. Since Easter is right around the corner, my best friend and I set a playdate to make Handprint Bunnies. They are so easy and fun, plus a piece of artwork you can keep up for all of spring (not just Easter).
Items Needed
8 x 10 Canvas
Acrylic Paints in assorted spring colors
Paintbrushes
Circular object (we used an old wooden spool)
Black permanent marker
Requires Adult Supervision
Directions
Step 1 – First, paint your child’s hand with gray (or whatever color you want the bunny to be). Next your child how to separate their fingers to make bunny ears and guide their hand to the canvas. Then gently remove your child’s hand from the canvas so the bunny ears do not smudge.
Step 2 – Demonstrate to your child how to dip their fingers in the green paint (for the grass). Decorate the bottom of the canvas with fingertips to create a grassy bottom where the bunny will sit. 
Step 3 – Show your child how they will use their thumbs to make ‘eggs’ in the grass. We used a variety of light colors to make the thumbprint eggs.
Step 4 – You will need to use a circular object to make the bunny’s body – we used a wooden spool, but you can easily have your child paint a body or use their fingers to draw one. After you’ve made the body, use a small brush to paint a fluffy bunny tail.
Step 5 – The next part is for the adults – unless you have an older child than our three year old girls. Use a small brush to paint the pink part of the bunny’s ears and a triangle nose. Then use a permanent black marker to add eyes, a mouth, and whiskers.
Step 6 – EAT! You have to do something while the craft dries right?
Crafting is one of those fun, but stressful, playdates that often require a little something to nibble on. Who has time to cook when you’re spending time with your loved ones though?
