I find great humor in the fact that I hated wearing shorts for most of my life, but now as a Mom, I find so much comfort in a pair. In high school, I was a dancer with athletic thighs, so many times I had difficulty finding shorts that fit correctly. I always wore a skirt or a dress during the warm months. In college, I was a crazy workout fiend, so my muscular, but petite build had me shopping in the kids section, but left me wearing booty shorts. For the few years after college, before I became pregnant, I just hated everything I tried on. Too short – too tight – too long – too something – there was always a problem. But now, since pregnancy stole my perky butt and defined muscles, I find myself wearing shorts whenever the temps are right.
One of my favorite pairs of shorts are a white denim cutoff from J.Crew Factory that have a foldable hem. These shorts are high cut in the waist with a 5′ inseam. I usually try to buy shorts with a 4-5′ inseam since I was not blessed with long legs like my daughters. The foldable hem on these white denim cutoffs were a selling point for me, as it changes the look of the shorts, but also provides an added sense of modest comfort. Anything I can bend over while wearing that doesn’t give the world a show is my kind of clothing.
White before Memorial Day is a thing of the past, so these cutoffs have been on rotation in my wardrobe since the weather became warm here in Georgia. The cutoffs are made of jean material, so they don’t wrinkle. If you’re like me, owning any clothing that requires an iron is just a hassle – so if I can toss something in the dryer to get out any wrinkles then I’m sold.
Sadly, I only own a few pairs of shorts that are worth wearing this spring/summer. J.Crew Factory is my go-to outlet for most of my wardrobe and I’ll be headed there soon. If you’re looking for a variety of styles, great quality, and multiple lengths offered, I recommend driving to your closest outlet, or trying out the sight online. I’ve heard GAP and Banana Republic outlets are great places to find shorts that are Mom-Approved without looking too much like something your own Momma would wear.
