For an entire year and a half, while I was nursing/pumping for Annabelle, I avoided dresses or anything one piece in my closet. There were plenty of times I wanted to look and feel pretty in a dress, but it was just too much of a hassle to pull my entire top off. Then one day I realized I had an old wrap dress in my closet and VOILA! Life changed. Wrap dresses are a golden gift for all breastfeeding Mamas.
Not only is a wrap dress convenient for nursing a little, but it is also extremely flattering on most any body type. There is something slimming about the wrap front style and it can also make any bust look better. My poor Mom boobs are sad these days as nine months of breastfeeding can do to a body. But when I put on a wrap dress, they look lively and normal.
As a Mom who sometimes needs to look extra special for a preschool awards ceremony, or the impromptu date night (with kids in tow), I love to buy dresses that are comfortable, but also make me feel pretty. I love a simple dress that can be worn with wedges OR sandals. The pretty blush pink ballet style wrap dress from Forever 21 is easy to throw on and uncomplicated. Unfortunately, my dress is no longer available, but I found this dress and this dress that are quite similar.
One of my favorite bags in my closet is the Longchamp Le Pliage medium tote with long hangles. I have collected quite a few colors and sizes over the years, but navy and black are my most used. This black market tote is half the price and big enough to carry diapers and wipes for the baby or snacks for your toddler.
There are only a few pair of sandals that I rotate on a daily basis during the warmer weather. If you can splurge, I recommend a pair of Tory Burch Miller sandals. They are comfortable, durable, and go with almost every outfit. I swear they can dress up a pair of high school gym shorts and a sweatshirt. My tan patent leather sandals are about 5 years old and look almost new despite how many times I’ve worn them. I have my eye on a darker tan pair these days, but don’t know if I’ll bite the bullet to buy them since I don’t need a new pair.
As far as accessories go, the combinations are countless while wearing a simple solid colored wrap dress. I’m a plain jane so I never get too crazy. I love to wear the same coordinates necklace every day. My mom bought me the necklace for my birthday a last year since both of my daughters were born at the same hospital and I always want to remember the place!
Whether its solid colored or something floral (which I’m hoping to buy soon!), the wrap dress is perfect for breastfeeding Mommas… or any woman who wants to feel effortlessly comfortable, confident, and beautiful.
