While unpacking my spring/summer clothes I came across one of my favorite pandemic purchases: a gingham maxi skirt. Unfortunately I didn’t have many places to wear the comfortable gingham tired skirt with everything shut down in Connecticut. Today I’m excited that I’m excited to share three ways to style a gingham skirt and how I plan to wear it this summer.
Did you know gingham was most popular in U.S. during the 1940s? The pattern entered the fashion scene during World War II, and still remains a go-to summer style. The preppy summertime fabric can be worn so many different ways – especially when it’s in a maxi skirt form. I’m alternating between three different top options for my gingham maxi skirt. Enjoy these looks – a silk tank with sweater over the shoulders, a crisp white button-up knotted at the naval, and a t-shirt and denim jacket

There are countless different tank tops you could pair with this skirt in so many colors. I opted for an old navy button up silk cami, but here are some similar styles: scalloped cami top, silk navy camisole, navy scalloped tank top. In the summer time I usually keep a lightweight sweater close by since New England nights can be chilly. I have a few summer sweaters from years passed, but here is a similar pink beach sweater.
Layering a t-shirt and jean jacket is a great way to wear a maxi skirt in the summer time. I just bought my first jean jacket (yes I know I’m late to the party) and it’s lightweight and comfortable.
