Cutting Board 3

There is nothing more beautiful than preparing your dinner on handmade wooden cutting board. Not only does it make everything you do look more beautiful (cutting bread or carrots seems so fancy), but you also know that they aren’t any strange oils or dyes used in the wood when it was made.

Cutting Board 1

When I was contacted by one of my readers (and Instagram friends!) about reviewing a cutting board made by her Dad, I jumped at the chance. To me, there is nothing more unique than a handmade wood cutting board. Jimmy’s Wood Works  creates wooden cutting boards in various sizes and shapes that can serve multiple purposes – think cheese boards or decorative centerpieces when you’re finished cutting up vegetables for chicken noodle soup. Designed from four different woods – Maple (cream) Cherry (tan) – Walnut (brown) – Sapele (reddish) – the 12 inch round board is sturdy, dye/stain free, and durable. Cutting Board 2

Each cutting board comes with a 2oz bottle of FDA Food Safe Mineral Oil and instructions on how to clean and maintain your new piece of woodwork. I poured a small amount of oil on the surface, wiped it in with a towel along the grain, and let it soak for a good day before I actually used the board. The first cut I made on the board was scary because I was sure it would scratch the wood. I was surprised that it did not! I tried using a few different knives with various food items to make sure there wasn’t something I should avoid cutting – but the wooden board is so strong and high quality it remained mark free.

Cutting board 5A wooden cutting board would not only make a great housewarming or wedding gift, but also could be the perfect Mother’s Day present. Be sure to check out the other stunning and unique boards by Jimmy on Etsy.
